When the world is crashing down. [These notes will fold themselves.]
[Open It]
Buffy was exhausted and sore. She had blood caked on her clothes and spattered in her hair. She’d saved most everyone but the nest had been vicious with her. She wanted a bath, something to eat and to spend the rest of the night with Danny. The lock on the door clicked open and she pushed it in, stepping over the threshold. The smell of burning food assaulted her and Buffy wrinkled her nose. “Danny?”
She crossed the apartment and turned off the oven, pulling out the food inside and tossing the whole pan in the sink. She turned around and walked back into the living room. “Danny?” she called again.
That was when she saw the rose petals scattered all over the carpet. They were red and for a moment she thought Danny was giving the whole red rose redemption thing a revival. It had been a joke for a while and something he’d succeeded in. She no longer cringed when she saw red roses. She followed the trail to find the next clue.
And it wasn’t what she expected. Not at all.
Not even a little bit.
Hello Lover
Big, bold, dripping letters that could only be written in blood were scrawled across her bedroom wall.
“No. No. No. No,” Buffy whispered under her breath, stumbling back, her hands grasping for anything to keep her upright. “No,” she said again as her hands curved around the door frame. The crack of wood made her wince.
Her dreams weren’t just dreams. And he had Danny.
