Buffy kissed his thumb then lightly bit it, teasingly. "Awww but I like Bucko," she continued to pout. Finally she smiled and shook her head. "Okay. No Bucko."

She bit her bottom lip and pulled it through her teeth. The words I love you were on the tip of her tongue but she couldn't. Not while he still didn't know everything. It left her open to so much more hurt if she said it and then he left. Instead she took a deep breath, tip toed and pressed a kiss to his lips.
