Mostly Danny lives in the real world where science and physics and normal applies. He can explain 99% of the things in his world.
More personally...there was this guy...and he actually was a demon hunter but he was...normal compared to the guys I'd dated before. He left because he couldn't handle...a lot of things. He couldn't handle that I could take down a demon in the time it took him to put together a team to do the same thing. He didn't like that I was stronger and faster than he'd ever be. He was on experimental government drugs to make him faster and stronger and he couldn't touch me. He couldn't stand that Angel bit me and left a scar and I got off on it. He couldn't stand that Angel was and is a part of my life and really, he just couldn't handle Angel. Then Dracula (yes that one) showed up in Sunnydale to meet me. There was a lot of thrall and biting and grossness that was nothing like Angel but it freaked Riley out.
Basically, Riley couldn't handle my life and he was already half in it. Why in the HELL would Danny be able to handle it.
