[Well I’ve been bound and gagged and I’ve been terrorized // And I’ve been castrated and I’ve been lobotomized // But never has my tormentor come in such a cunning disguise]

It had taken several hours to figure out where he was but then again he had wanted to be found. Buffy walked into the monastery dressed for a fight, black leather pants, heeled boots and a black leather jacket. Her hair fell around her shoulders in loose curls. She looked over to Danny, taking in all the damage Angelus had done to him. Rage bubbled up inside of her and she choked it down because right now, uncontrollable rage wasn't going to do any good.

Danny looked to Buffy through the narrow slits of eyes. At this point he had lost a lot of blood. He was tired and he couldn't feel his hands and arms. Any movement made his entire body ache but he still shook his hands, pulling again on the chains. Everything Angelus had said he would do to and with Buffy was running through his mind. "No... no... go away..." He whispered. "Go away, baby please. Fuck." He looked up to the chains, the strain re-opening those cuts on his wrists so that fresh blood slid down the dried blood already on his arms.

"No way, Baby, we're gonna get you out of here and home. Your mom will have my head if we don't make to Christmas dinner and I might not be afraid of your dad but I am of your Mom," she told Danny. She looked over to Angelus, who was leaning against the wall with a smirk on his face while he smoked a cigarette. She crossed her arms over her chest and leaned her weight back on one leg.

"You hurt my boyfriend."

"And I remember how much you hate that," Angelus smirked. He eyed Danny and took his cigarette from between his lips, holding it up as if to toss it.

"Don't even. Pick on someone your own size, Angelus," Buffy warned him, taking another step toward him.

"Oh that was always the point, Buff. You look good but you've packed on a few pounds. Careful. No body wants a fat slayer," Angelus chuckled as he took a step toward her.

"You've got me here. Let him go," Buffy said with a glance to Danny.

"I don't think so, Buff. You're going to need a first meal when I'm finished with you and there's nothing quite so sweet as the blood of someone you used to love."

Buffy rolled her eyes in response. "Seriously? That's your master plan? And everyone always says you're the smart one. What in our history...what in my history with Angel has ever made you think I'd let you turn me into a vampire?"

Angelus stared right at the scar on her neck. "Well...you did let Soulboy have a snack." He reached out, fascinated, his fingers brushing the scar on her neck almost impossibly gentle. In response Buffy slammed her fist into his jaw, knocking him to the ground.

"Don't touch me there," she snapped.

He chuckled in response. "That's my girl."

"Not yours. Never."

Angelus chuckled as he got to his feet and paced a circle around Buffy.

He hated this. Danny hated being the helpless one ever. But he really hated being the helpless one in this scenario. But then in most scenarios in Buffy's world, he was the joe shmo who couldn't measure up to the larger than life figures. He fought the bad guys in his world. In Buffy's world, the bad guys were harder to beat. But the fact that Angelus was now on the ground and Buffy wasn't gave him a bit of that hope and faith in her that he had initially had. "Buffy, kick his ass and get me outta here."

"You heard him," Buffy shrugged. "I really hate to let him down." She executed a flawless roundhouse kick that Angelus ducked.

"You're going to have to try harder than that," Angelus smirked. "No swords this time? Too bad I was hoping for a reenactment." He threw a punch that Buffy dodged.

"You mean of me kicking your ass?" Buffy quipped. "No problem there. That's going to happen." He jumped her leg sweep. They were playing with each other, cat and mouse.

"We both know you're not going to kill me. Kill me and you kill Angel," Angelus stated as he grabbed her wrist and pulled her close, wrapping her up so that her back was pinned against his. She canted her head to the side, exposing the scar on her neck, almost an offering. When he took the bait she slammed the back of her head as hard as she could into the bridge of his nose.

"Fuck!" he yelled and stumbled back, blood gushing. "Bitch...you broke my nose."

"Aww, I didn't know the sweet talk would end so soon," Buffy quipped. A side kick sent him stumbling back a few more steps. She glanced over at Danny to see how he was faring and Angelus took that moment of distraction and used it to his full advantage. He hit her hard enough send her flying in the air. She hit a column and it shattered under the impact.

It was an impact that would have killed anyone else. And even though he knew she would get back up, Danny's heart skipped a beat. "Buffy!"

Buffy did get up but it was a little slow. "I'm okay, Babe," she told him. Angelus was standing over her, leering at her. "What, no helping hand to get me back up? I think you broke my ribs and that's just rude."

That made Angelus laugh. He extended his hand to her and she took it, flipping him over her head and onto his back. "I don't need any help kicking your ass," Buffy said as she got to her feet. Breathing was agony but agony was just an obstacle she'd learned to push past. Being impaled hurt worse.

Angelus grinned, enjoying the whole thing. And here he'd thought torturing was the most fun he was going to have all day. He grabbed a handful of her hair and Buffy stomped on his foot with the sharp heel of her boot. He cursed in Gaelic and let go of her hair, his fist catching her in the cheekbone. A bruise blossomed almost immediately. She stumbled back, almost hitting the ground but she held her ground and let him advance. When he was close she threw a knee up into his gut hard enough to double him over a bit. Another well placed sidekick and he stumbled back into the ruins of the column. A column that had been made with stone and rebar. She leaned over and picked up a chunk of rock the size of a big man's fist. She wanted to get this over with and get home.

Angelus looked down at the rebar that impaled him and up at Buffy. "I hate being impaled." He started to push himself off the rebar and Buffy slammed him back onto it.

"And I hate it when people hurt my boyfriend. Willow is going to stuff a soul back in you and you'll be locked back in your cage."

"You think Angel will be able to deal with this? I racked up quite a body count this time. I had to keep you busy and I had to keep his friends busy. I did a lot of torturing to Danny, who Soul Boy actually likes. I can't figure out why and there was this girl..." Angelus trailed off. "He is going to be so eat up with guilt he won't be able to do a damn thing. Eventually I'll work on him, get him to see my side of things."

"Yeah because you've been working on him for a century and he hasn't seen your side of things yet. Angel is stronger than you want to admit," Buffy told him. Her hand was on Angelus' throat and it might not choke him out but it would keep him there. She slammed the rock into the side of his head, bashing his skull in with a wound that would have killed a human. However, it would only keep him unconscious for a couple of hours. She pulled him off the rebar and dragged him over to Danny. She found keys to the manacles in the pocket of Angel's coat and she unlocked them around Danny's wrists and ankles then leaned in to kiss his temple.

"Let me lock him up. Willow is working on the soul thing and then she's got something planned to help you too. We'll get you home and safe and better," she promised.

His legs buckled ungracefully the minute he was unchained. He fell to the ground and lifted one hand to wave it off. "M'okay. Just wanna go home." He pushed himself to his feet and laid one hand against the wall to lean against it. "What happened? How'd he become that?"

"That's what he is without the soul. That's what Angel fights every day. Willow says magic ripped his soul out. She felt something yesterday. Something big. She did some research, found out what. She was already getting together the ingredients to do the re-ensouling spell when I called her," Buffy explained as she snapped the manacles around Angel's wrists. He'd be able to break out of them once he healed and it would give Willow time to do the spell. She stood up and slipped one arm around Danny, letting him lean on her. It still hurt to breathe and the extra weight made it worse but this wasn't over yet and she couldn't let on that she hurt. Not yet. She had to get Danny safe first.

"I've got a cab waiting outside. He thinks I'm doing some kind of research for an article in the paper. He's so going to love this whole injured thing."

Danny rested his weight on her, but had he known how injured she was he wouldn't have. He would have held onto the wall the whole way out. The point was that he would have had to hold onto something. And since she had offered, he chose her. "Thought you'd never get here. He killed some girl. Right in front of me, just like that. He killed her. Couldn't stop him."

"Sorry," Buffy said quietly. "There are a lot more abandoned religious buildings in New York than you realize. And the vamp nest he sent me into didn't know anything about where he was." She looked over to Danny as she helped him outside. "That was the point. He knew it'd bother you. I'm sorry. I thought-I have nightmares about him sometimes and I didn't realize they were prophecy dreams." She opened the back door of the cab and helped Danny in then slid in beside him. She gave the cab driver their address.

"Willow is working her mojo at our place. Everything should be fine by the time we get back there."

He winced as he sat back against the seat of the cab. "Yeah, yeah let's go home."

I loved this. It was so detailed, and the banter was so vivid. A great piece.
