[The video opens with static then stablizes and shows Buffy dressed like this ~~swap out trident for scythe~~. There's a smear of blood across her collarbone, claw marks decorate her shoulder, her lip is busted and there's a bruise blooming on her cheekbone. She's the one standing and the monster, several sizes bigger than her, is lying in pieces scattered across the arena floor. The sound of the audience chanting overwhelms any other sound.]

[ooc:Let the bodices hit the floor curse. It's a cheesy historical romance gladiator era.]

[ And if she's gonna punch him on the shoulder for that, John decides to bring up some valid concerns about what she does for a living. He loves her, see? And the last thing he wants is to lose her. It would be all sorts of fucking tragic. ]

I know you don't like anyone bringing this up, but do you really have to keep doing this gladiator thing? It's dangerous.

Hey, there are perks.

[A pained look crosses her face and she checks a sigh. It's an old concern both from him and Dawn.]

They don't just let their star player walk out without consequences. I won't risk you or Dawn. [She gives a small smile in an attempt to keep the conversation from nose diving into serious. She prefers when it dogpaddles there] You know some other gladiator would be all ego bruised. Lucky for you, at least one of us knows how good I am.

[She bites her bottom lip and looks directly at him.] Besides, I've got lots to win for out there.

They can't force you to keep doing this. I understand you want to protect Dawn, but I can take care of myself. I can protect you. [ Aaaand because he doesn't want to ruin the almost perfect evening, John relents and lets out a shrug. ]

Look, just promise me you'll let me know when you want out.

Let me help you.

[She bites her lip and nods.] I know and I...will. I promise.

[She takes a moment to really think about it.] I don't know what I'd do if I didn't do this. I'm good at it and I'm not so good at other things.

It's worth a try though, right? Cause you never know. [ John releases his hold on her the moment they step outside of the arena and away from the crowd. ]

But hey, whatever you decide, I promise I'll always stand by you. [ He offers her his hand. ]

I know. There's a reason I'm with you, you know. Besides the hot [And that gets a giggle snort out of her] Pun so intended. [She reaches out and takes his hand, squeezing it lightly.]

Well, that's one pun I'm never going to get sick of hearing. [ He squeezes her hand and even does this little romantic gesture of placing a kiss on her knuckles as they walk towards his apartment. ]

Neil hasn't been bothering you, has he? Because if he has... [ Yeah. He can't let it go. ]

[She bites her bottom lip, unable to suppress a smile at the kiss. It's a whole thing with her. Like he's accepting and even embracing the whole violence thing when he kisses her knuckles, still bruised from wailing on a monster in the arena. There's a quick recovery when he mentions Neil and she shakes her head immediately because he hasn't been bothering her...exactly. There have been flowers and notes but...] He's harmless. It's just a crush. He's head over heels for the girl in the arena. He could care less about me.

[She squeezes back. She understands not letting it go.

[ That had better be the case or Neil is going to be fried. Only, not really. Dude's only a minor threat. Plus, the last thing he wants is for Buffy to give him a lecture. Although, hey, lives ruined, bloodshed - it's stuff of legends. ]

How did I get so lucky, huh? [ He smiles. Cue music in the background as he leans in to kiss her. It's a magical Disney moment. EPIC. ]

Hey the deities smiled on you. What can I say. [It's said with teasing and it's clear from the way she returns the kiss that she mirrors his sentiment.

Pssssh Disney has nothing on these two OKAY]
