A-patrolling we will go [RP for allerdyce_john]

Buffy took the subway mostly because walking would take too long. She had stakes tucked in her bag, she'd left a note for Danny (who was working a homicide case)and now she was walking through Central Park. She had her phone on vibrate because nothing ruined a sneak attack like a cell phone ringing. She was supposed to meet Pyro here and they were going to find some vampires to light up. It shouldn't be hard, they loved Central Park like Buffy loved shoes.

"I constantly feel the urge to burn something. I'm very much a pyromania. I see fire and I just need to control it, so yeah, I guess I need to make use of my powers. I tend to use it when I fight. Basically at every opportunity I get, I'd try to incinerate something." He let out a crooked smile. "A friend of mine gave me a building to burn once. That was kind of fucking awesome of him." He chuckled. "And I can understand that whole getting bitchy thing cause I get cranky as hell when I'm doing nothing but paperwork in the office. I run this non-governmental organization. It's called IMRC. International Mutant Relief Center. I set it up to aid and assist mutants in third world countries. So when I'm not doing Brotherhood stuff, that's what I try to focus on."

"Oh wow, that's cool. The whole IMRC thing. You're like a philanthropist," Buffy grinned at him. "That is a very good friend with the burning building thing."

"There's actually a whole motive involved in that whole IMRC thing. The Brotherhood's planning on an expansion so we're looking to recruit these mutants." He shrugged. "So you've got your own secret base and hideout for your slayers. How often do you go to Scotland to see them?"

"Shame on you. I was thinking it was out of the goodness of your heart," Buffy smirked at him. "No, I get it. You have to recruit. We sort of do the same thing. Intervene and make sure we get the slayers started on the right path because an army of slayers in the wrong hands would be a very bad thing."

She shrugged at his question about Scotland. "I haven't really been back since I moved here. I'll probably have to go back in a few months. I do a lot of phone calls, emails...etc etc. I'm really kind of the...big guns and Willow, Giles and Xander handle it more on a daily basis. I'm who they pull out when the world is ending and the girls need a morale boost or a kick in the ass."

He clicked his tongue and smirked. "Gotta love the use of emails and text messaging systems." He was quite addicted to using his BlackBerry, in fact he was dependent on it.

"Of all places to set up a base for your slayers though, why Scotland?"

"Seriously, modern day technology makes things like that so much easier," Buffy agreed. She was going to have to look into the whole Blackberry deal.

Buffy shrugged at his question. "We needed a lot of space and we needed somewhere out of the country. It's possible that I'm on the terrorist list for a very high level, super secret branch of the government. They think I blew up Sunnydale, California. Which...I sort of helped but I don't think they know exactly what to do with me. Everyone in the city had evacuated by that time. With the exceptions of slayers, down, the death count was really low. Besides, they can't figure how I turned an entire town into a crater without a bomb. Anyway...Giles knew a lady in Scotland that could get us a castle for cheap. So we bought a castle, moved the girls out there. It's in the middle of nowhere so there's no one to argue about the things we do or don't do."

He laughed at hearing that. He couldn't help it. "And there you have it. Something else in common. We're both known as goddamn terrorists. But okay, I'm curious. How'd you managed to blow up an entire town without the use of a bomb?"

"I know, it's kinda insane the things in common we're racking up," Buffy laughed. She pulled her bottom lip between her teeth. "I didn't. Well, I mean it wasn't me. Angel got his hands on this amulet. He was told that it would help me out. The whole underworld knew what was going on with me. He brought it to Sunnydale, told me it was for a champion to wear. I knew I was going to have my hands full leading the slayer army and I'm always better as a front line kind of girl anyway. I gave the amulet to Spike. All we had to do was hold the army of Hell off long enough for the amulet to activate. I had no friggin' idea what it would do."

She paused, brow furrowing. "Turns out it turned Spike into this massive...column of white light that obliterated the army and closed the Hellmouth for good. He just had to bring the whole town down with him. It was very dramatic. He was burning up as I was leaving and the town was cratering. We drove out of there on a school bus just ahead of the cratering town. There was no explosion though, just all this light and an implosion."

"So if you had worn the amulet, would you have..." He couldn't bring himself to say it. "Did Spike die because he was a vampire? Because he couldn't deal with that whole column of white light thing?" No one could blame Buffy for having given that amulet to Spike. He himself knew that he would have done the same thing if he needed to lead his army in a battle. Plus it wasn't as if she had any of knowledge of what it would do.

"Giant column of flame followed by an entire town falling on top of me," Buffy answered. "Yeah. I would have been dead and Spike is alive but he did die. Someone brought him back via magic." She got her stake out and twirled it in one hand like a gun slinger. More just for something to do with her hands than anything.

"I thought about wearing it but in the days before we'd come to realize through trial and error that Buffy really isn't a giant, arrogant bitch when she says she's the best one to lead an army. I was...I am. Armies have to have leaders or they erupt into chaos and everyone dies. I needed Angel in LA and as bitchy as it sounds, I knew what might happen. It was war. I sacrificed Angel once. I wasn't willing to do it again. Spike was the obvious choice."

Pyro nodded. He certainly respected Buffy for being able to make that sort of a decision. Least she wasn't a girly girl in that sense. "That was a real smart move. I can see why you're General Buffy." He eyed the stake in her hand. "Is that the stake or just one of the many you own?"

Buffy glanced down at the stake in her hand. "One of many. The only real the stake I have is Mr. Pointy. It's a stake that belonged to another slayer. Kendra. She was killed helping me stop some vamps from sucking the world into hell. I usually only use Mr. Pointy for the big fights. Stakes can dust so I go through a lot of them. I try to stake and pull out but sometimes I'm not fast enough. Anything on the vamp or in the vamp when it dusts, also dusts."

"Mr. Pointy?" he sniggered. "Sorry, but you named your stake." He chuckled then held his lighter up. "Mr. Sharkie. For obvious reasons." He pointed to the shark on his lighter. "Don't ever tell anyone I named it though."

Buffy reached over and lightly smacked him on the shoulder. "alright Mr. Sharkie," she teased him. "For the record, Kendra named it. I don't actually have any named weapons. Except my Scythe and it's always my Scythe with a capital S not the scythe or a scythe. it's a slayer scythe, made especially for the current slayer. It's all tied up in mystical power and slayer power and I don't even know what all but I know I hold it and it feels like mine. Willow used it's power to make all the slayers and then gave it back."

"And you keep all of these weapons in your coffee table?" He arched a brow at her. "You gotta be kiddin' me."

"The stakes are in a shoe box in the closet so I can get to them without Danny noticing," Buffy said. "The scythe, crossbow, short sword, multiple daggers, bolts, and bottles of holy water are in the chest that doubles as a coffee table. Yup. Honestly, I like sleeping with the scythe under the bed but there's just no way that's going to fly with Danny until he knows."

"I'm glad the only thing I ever need is a spark from this lighter. I've got this flame thrower device at home but as for the rest of the weapons, guns and all that shit, they're at the base." Including a few nuclear warheads but he wasn't about to mention that. "So these vampires and demons you fight, do they know where you live?"

"Well, in all honesty, all I need is me. I'm really big on preaching to the girls that they are weapons all by themselves. Stakes, swords, crossbows and scythes are like really great shoes. Just accessories but they're fun," Buffy told him she shuddered at the idea of vampires and demons knowing where she lived. "In Sunnydale they did. Xander, one of my best friends, was a carpenter and he rebuilt things in my house all the time. Here, they don't. Yet. Vampires can't come in without an invite so that's not as a big a deal. Demons don't need an invite. Right now, I'm not sure anyone knows I'm here."

She paused and shrugged one shoulder. "There are sort of...dupes of me all over the place. Slayers that are about the right build and height, blonde all running around with the name Buffy Summers. There's 3 of them. Slayers all over the world and I'm the one to kill."

"Hn. They're always gonna want to put down the leader of the pack. Having a few of you running around out there isn't such a bad idea. Maybe I should consider getting decoys." Pyro managed a grin.

"And I'm not at all surprised that all you need is you. You're all sorts of skilled at martial arts and you're strong. I gotta admit I'm pretty fucking dependent on my powers. I hate close combat situations without the use of fire." He smirked a little. "I guess I tend to cheat during a fight. Like I'd manipulate a flame into the shape of a giant fist and solidify it enough to crush my opponent. Or create a giant bird and have that lift things up into the air. When I first had this power though, all I could do was act like a human flame thrower device but I've managed to develop it in the past couple of years."

"The decoys were Giles' idea. I was actually kind of against it. It paints a huge target on the girls but so far, they're doing pretty well," Buffy said. A look that was obviously impressed came across her face when he talked about his powers.

"That's pretty fucking amazing. I mean I was thinking human flame thrower too and that's cool in itself but apparently you're beyond cool."

"The one thing I'm still pissed about right now is that I can't create fire. I just can't do it. At first, I thought it's like one of those things I might be able to get to do once I'm a little older, you know like a secondary mutation or whatever but so far, nothing." He shrugged.

"But anyways, what about watchers like Giles? Do they have powers, supernatural abilities? I mean how did he become a watcher? Did he get recruited?"
