Buffy took the subway because she can't bear to take the time to walk down to the precinct and she can't run full speed through the city at noon. Mac had called and told her they had some information about Danny. That had resulted in immediate panic but she had pushed it away. Whatever was going on, Danny needed her now and panicked Buffy was not going to help anyone. On the subway ride over she'd stood with her fingers pressed against the door, harder and harder until the glass cracked and she pulled. When it finally slides into the station, she's the first one off, shoving her way through people as she runs, just keeping her speed in check to the high rise that the lab is housed in. She doesn't bother with the elevator, it would only make her crazy, and she knows she can run stairs faster than the elevator will move. Once the door shuts behind her, she doesn't hold back, taking the stairs so fast she almost blurs. She pulls up to a stop at the right floor and bursts through the door. The receptionist directs her to Mac's office and her nerves flutter up again.

Buffy smooths her hand over her hair. It's a wreck and she knows it. She pulled it back in a knot after the rain last night and she hasn't looked at it since. She spent the whole night killing vampires, pounding on demons and decidedly not sleeping or eating. She's got on a wife beater that's seen better days and a pair of jeans that hang low on her hips. The knees are torn out and that happened only hours ago. She opens the door to Mac's office with a slight knock then steps inside hesitantly.

"Mr. Taylor...uhm, Detective Taylor...thank you for calling me. Buffy Summers," she says to jog his memory even though he's the one that called her.

He had only met her once but he remembered her. She looked a bit more worn and less put together than the last time he had seen her. "Ms. Summers. Thank you for calling us yesterday and letting us know that Danny hadn't come home. He didn't show up for work today either."

He stood up and walked around the desk to extend a hand in greeting to Buffy. "I know we're both fairly stressed out and busy so I'll get right to it. We're opening a case file for Danny. I can't divulge the specifics of the case, but we received mail today."

He turned to his desk and picked up the photographs sent with the letter. He handed her the photographs to look over. "I want to assure you that we will find him. Danny is one of us. Danny is family. This is our top priority and my team is very good at what they do."

And that was all he could and would say. Everything else was case specifics that he couldn't give out. Adam and Lindsay were busy processing the blood that Stella had brought back. Deep down, he already knew that it was Danny's. They all did. Those photographs had him covered in too much blood for it not to be his.

Buffy went very pale while she looked at the photos. Her hand went to cover the scar on her neck. She only moved her hand to flip through the photos. She didn't realize she was holding her breath until she came to the last photo. She stacked them up methodically, tapping the edges against Mac's desk. She extended the photos back to him. She was very stiff, very tense and entirely slayer Buffy as opposed to Buffy!Buffy.

She gave him a curt, tight nod. "You'll keep me updated on anything you find? I don't care if it's the middle of the night, I want to know."

"Any information I'm able to reveal. We'll be sure to let you know." Taking the photos, Mac stacked them also, his fingers tapping lightly at the edges. He had watched the change come over her. She was suddenly stiffer, more in control.

"I have twenty-four hours before I have to have to involve his family. I'm trying to put that off for reasons I'm sure you know." He explained, setting the photos on his desk. "I think it's best that we leave them out of it for as long as the law permits."

Buffy nodded, biting her bottom lip. "Yeah, you'll end up with a body count and Danny's name will be in the headlines again."

She took a deep breath and then let it out. "Danny has faith in you. He says your great at your job. You'll find him before your time is up."

Or Buffy would. Either way, the problem would be solved. She was really hoping that she'd find him first.

Mac knew that Danny had always had him up on a pedestal of sorts. He had mentored Danny into the Crime lab and he was a large part of why Danny was still here. He nodded at Buffy and started for the glass door to his office. "And Danny's strong. I'm positive that he'll make it through this. Thank you for coming by, Ms. Summers."

"I'm sure he will too," Buffy nodded. "Your welcome. Thanks for letting me know what's going on. I know you didn't have to," she said as she started out the office door.
