When all you can see are the years passing by [And I have made up my mind that those days are gone]

[Dare: Get rid of something you’ve held onto]

The silver is cool beneath her fingertips and against her palm. She knows eventually it will leech the warmth from her skin but she always imagines it cool [Just like him]. The breath she pulls in shakes, trembling as if under some great labor or weight. It fogs up the silver as she exhales.

Angel: Truth is, I thought you'd be taller, or bigger muscles and all that. You're pretty spry, though.

Buffy: What do you want?

Angel: The same thing you do.

Buffy: Okay. What do I want?

Angel: To kill them. To kill them all.

Buffy: Sorry, that's incorrect. But you do get this lovely watch and a year's supply of Turtle Wax. What I *want* is to be left alone!

The cross slips off her hand, chain catching on her fingers. It dangles above the box of clothing she’s been packing up. This is a whole new life in New York City and the friendship she has with Angel is a whole new facet of that life. She’s got Danny, other crosses and new reasons to fight. She doesn’t need anyone to save her anymore.

She hears the door open then shut and she gets to her feet. The chain slides down her fingers, cross brushing against her skin and falls into the pile of clothes in the box. Danny pokes his head in the bedroom door and she smiles at him, stooping to pick up the box.

“Whatcha doin’ Sunshine?” he asks as he crosses the room to cup the back of her head with one hand and place a kiss on her lips. She smiles into the kiss and shakes her head.

“Just packing up some things for charity.”
