13 of my favorite song lyrics and why
1. Invincible by Ok Go
When they finally come to destroy the earth they’ll have to go through you first, and I bet they won’t be expecting that
Really, do I have to explain this one? It’s kinda…me.
2. Criminal by Fiona Apple
Ive been a bad bad girl/Ive been careless with a delicate man./And its a sad sad world,/When a girl can break a boy/Just because she can.
No reason except it’s sexy and it makes me feel sexy and okay…yes I had a dark period where I did break a guy just because I could but that doesn’t have anything to do with this song.
3. Falls on me by Fuel
And all of your weight/All you dream/Falls on me it falls on me
Okay, seriously. I started to just quote the WHOLE song but I figured that was a little pointless. It’s just a gorgeous song and I adore the lyrics.
4. Your Honor by Regina Spektor
So don't get cut cause I still won't be no saint
I love, love, love the whole song. It’s about a couple and the guy has been out fighting for her honor and he comes home all bloody and she’s cleaning him up telling him she doesn’t need anyone to fight for her honor. In what leads up to the lyric I like, she’s telling him it won’t matter, she’ll still be what she is. Okay, sometimes I feel like this lyric. No matter what I’m made out to be, or what people do or don’t do because of me, I’m still not going to be a saint.
Also, it’s got this great beat that I dance across the apartment and wail on my punching bag too.
5. The Tower by Vienna Teng
I've always been the tower/But now I feel like the flower trying to bloom in the snow
This is so me the last five years or so. Completely out of my element and trying to find my footing. I think I’m there? Sometimes.
6. Scratch by Kendall Payne
It's a big girl world now/Full of big girl things/And everyday I wish I was small
So maybe it’s a little lame but it’s a pretty song and it goes on when I’m kinda emo and I’m telling myself that I’m a big girl. It usually works.
7. #1 Crush by Garbage
OMG. The whole song. Seriously. It’s dark and obsessive and possessive and kinda stalkery but uber sexy. This goes on top volume before I go out to the club and sometimes I dance to it all by myself at home. You know when no one else is home.Also it’s great for giving a lapdance
8. Chinese Burn by Curve
She could win this game and be the queen for good
Really again it’s the whole song but this particular snippet of lyric is fun. It’s like the ultimate dance song and it’s long.
9. All The Same by Sick Puppies
And I have the skill, yeah I have the will/To breathe you in while I can/However long you stay/Is all that I am
The whole song is kind of unhealthy relationship-y and how sad is it that I just figured out like last year that that sort of relationship was really kind of unhealthy BUT I still think this lyric is really nice and sorta healthy.
10. I think I’m Paranoid by Garbage
Heaven knows what a girl can do /Heaven knows what you've got to prove
It’s a fun, fun song. Also a little unhealthy when applied to a relationship but I love this song. And also, it’s really me applicable. Heaven knows what a girl can do…I mean really.
11. Hey Pretty by Poe
Where my secrets echo all around/You know me now but to do better than that/You've got to follow me/Boy I'm trying to show you where I'm at
It’s so very me with relationships. Plus, great song. I think I’m doing this wrong. I’ve got all amazing songs on here instead of individual lyrics.
12. Honey and the Moon by Joseph Arthur
If you weren't real I would make you up now
‘cause I kinda feel this way right now. Plus pretty song.
13. Running Up That Hill by Placebo
It doesn't hurt me. /You wanna feel how it feels? You wanna know, know that it doesn't hurt me?/You wanna hear about the deal I'm making?
Okay so I feel like this a lot. No one wants to know that it hurts or that sometimes there are bruises. They don’t want to hear that my ribs don’t heal in two hours so it hurts to breathe or it hurts to move or it hurts to keep smiling. All anyone wants to hear is that it doesn’t hurt. I’m Supergirl. How could it possibly hurt?
And WOW that sounded emo. Also, the song is amazing. It’s got this whole heartbeat to it.
