I'm trying to figure out just what to do [I'm going crazy without you] RP for <lj site="livejournal.

Her day had been awful. She'd spent the whole day snapping at her classes. Some of the boys had been understanding and others had been just little crapheads. She'd responded in kind by being bitchy. Frappachinos had been mainlined because she hadn't gotten any sleep the past two nights and she felt like she was jumping out of her skin. Danny had kissed her when he'd left that morning but he hadn't slipped in the shower with her, which was how they usually started their morning out. In the end she just went straight home after work, took a bubble bath, drank a glass of wine and tried to unwind. It didn't really work, there was too much on her mind and too much on her shoulders. She got out of the bath, tossed on a wife beater, a pair of shorts and stabbed a chopstick through her damp hair. She put her ipod on her Boy Bands playlist (N'Sync was good, thank you very much) and decided to try some Tai Chi. It couldn't hurt and it might center her enough that she could deal with everything and even help Danny deal. The wooden floor was cool and hard beneath her bare feet so she focused on that as she went through the Tai Chi motions in an attempt to lose herself. Every once in a while she'd glance at the clock -defeating the purpose- knowing Danny would be home in a little while, barring any complications at work.

Buffy noticed how he stayed on the other side of the room and she tried not to let it bother her. This was still weird and new and it wasn't like he hadn't touched her since then. He'd clung to her almost desperately the night before. She pulled her feet up on the couch, wrapping her arms around her legs so that her knees were against her chest.

"It was long. I was bitchy to the boys and some of them were bitchy back. I'll make it up to them tomorrow. I'm taking a Bruce Lee movie in with me. We're going to dissect one of his fight scenes and I'm going to teach them to fight like him."

He was neck deep in the ultimate denial of what had happened the other night. So carefully so that he was in major ignore mode. "So who would win, Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan?"

[identity profile] whattingawhat.livejournal.com 2008-06-10 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Difficult question. Chan probably studied Lee because he's the master but obviously sometimes there's a point where the student becomes the master. In a dojo or empty field, Lee would pwn Chan because...master. However, you put Chan and Lee someplace where there are objects and civilians, Chan's got a good chance because that's his thing; using the enviroment around him as a weapon. Still...master. I'm not sure you get any better than Bruce Lee," Buffy answered, giving it some serious thought mostly so that she could avoid the fact that he was ignoring so hard core.

"It'd be an awesome fight to watch. I'd pay-per-view."

"We'd beer and pizza it." Danny commented, nodding slightly as he looked down to the floor.

"Aww babe, you know the way to my heart," Buffy said as she watched him carefully. Everything was tense, awkward and she was pretty sure she couldn't cut it with her scythe. She took a sip of her beer and a deep breath, letting the silence smother them because she wasn't sure what else she was supposed to say.

He was sucking royally at this. He couldn't help it... yet. It was just so weird. He moved to the kitchen and got out the cartons of ice cream out of the fridge to set them on the counter to thaw. They had to thaw enough to be mixed together. Then he walked back into the living room and picked up Rocky from an arm chair to hold the dog against his chest as he scratched at his ears. "You still in like with me?"

Buffy looked up at him when he asked the question and nodded. "So much so that this scares me. I don't scare easy but I'm sorta terrified."

[identity profile] stillacrime.livejournal.com 2008-06-10 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"This?" Danny asked, face scrunching up around the question.

[identity profile] whattingawhat.livejournal.com 2008-06-10 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"This," Buffy responded. "The way nothing is right between us right now. And I'm not pushing you or telling you to fake it or anything. I don't want you do anything you don't feel. I'm just scared that this is the last dying breath. You'll wrap your head around this, or you won't, and you'll tell me I have to go because you can't do this"

"This? This is just hard. My brain is goin' a little slow around everything." Danny admitted. "And there are things still right with us. We're us. It's just been a roller coaster for about a week, yeah?"

[identity profile] whattingawhat.livejournal.com 2008-06-10 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Buffy watched him for a moment and then nodded. She pulled her bottom lip between her teeth. Men left her because of this. Men that were supposed to stay like her father. Angel and Riley had only reinforced that belief. Finally she uncurled from the couch and walked over to lean against the wall beside Danny. She had her beer in one hand and her shoulder wasn't quite brushing his arm but she was standing close.

"As long as you feel that way, your brain can be as slow as it wants. And it's definitely a roller coaster but those are fun if you just let go, put your hands up in the air and scream."

"You mean if I let it be this could be fun? All of this? The new stuff too?" Danny asked, casting a sideways glance in her direction.

"In a way," Buffy answered. "It's always going to be a little scary and it's always going to be a source of worry and sometimes it won't be fun. At all. But the thing is, I've spent years fighting it and trying to push it away and benormal. I finally figured out, I can't fight it. This is what I am and when I'm out there fighting...it is fun. I love what I do. Yeah there are times it sucks out loud. Pun so not intended."

She glanced over at Danny and grinned a little. "Plus, and here's the fun part for you, when I go out slaying...I get this whole...afterwards it's what I call the H factor. It makes me hungry and horny and since I come home to you at night..." she trailed off with a shrug.
