48th Slay [action] They'll have to go through you first

[Buffy is in full patrol mode. She's even got the commando thing going for her with black cargo pants and a black turtle neck. The bright red pea coat isn't exactly military issue though nor are the fashionable high heeled black booties she's wearing. She's got her hair pulled back into a ponytail and she's wearing a sling style back pack filled with a variety of weapons. Stakes, both silver and wood are shoved into the waistband of her pants. There's water guns filled with holy water in the pockets. She's got dead man's blood, tranq guns and lead stakes. She's spent the week at the library doing research on various types of monsters from various worlds so she knows what she's up against.

Not that that's going to make it easy. It's never, ever easy.]

Oh, Cam's around here somewhere. I'm not alone. I am a little hungry though. [He steps closer to Buffy too, spying the stake and then stopping short. His gaze lifts from it up to Buffy's gaze. He hadn't really expected that, but maybe he should have.]

It's so easy for you, isn't it? Killing people you know... [Yep, he's about to use his profiling skills to make you feel like shit, Buffy. He'll feel bad about it later.] Killing in general, sure but... you and me, we've worked side by side here for awhile. And you just come at me with that thing without a thought like it's the easiest thing in the world.

[She can't pretend that it doesn't get under her skin. She's already killed Charlie today and that one was graphic and difficult. She expects this one won't be any different. When she speaks it's clear by the tone and timbre of her voice that he is getting to her. The problem is...Derek isn't telling her or making her feel anything that she hasn't thought about and felt herself.]

It used to be hard. It used to give me nightmares and then I grew up. You're not my friend anymore. My friend is dead and you're just the demon that took over.

Oh he's still very much in here. He doesn't seem too happy with all the people we've killed today.

[Derek starts moving in a circle around Buffy. Keeping a safe enough distance from her so that he could judge the situation carefully. Faith had been easy, she hadn't realized he was a vampire until he'd had her under his thrall and the rest had been like stealing candy from a baby. Apparently word had gotten around though. This wasn't going to be so easy. He couldn't play the friend card.]

At least I haven't killed anyone Derek knows. I've hurt a few though. [Cause of course the demon has to brag.] Turned one.

You wanna medal? 'Cause that's still not buying you any points with me, Buster. In fact, consider yourself grounded.

[She's going to circle him and swoop in to attempt a leg sweep.]

[He's quick, and he leaps that sweep of her leg. The leap ends in a low chuckle of amusement. He even leans in as he speaks the next words, a taunt, trying to get her to try again.]

I think that puts me ahead of you in the game if you're going to get all moral on me, right and wrong. Sounds like you've killed people you know. Tsk tsk, Buffy.

I've killed monsters that I know to protect people. Sorry. Moral high ground. I've still got it.

[She feigns a step back and instead turns it into a big roundhouse kick.]

I've saved a lot of lives and killed a lot of monsters too if you want to talk history. I'm talking today.

[Alright, that one gets him. He stumbles back a few feet and then lunges for her. That's Derek, always going for brute force first.]
