47th Slay [Accidental Video]

[The device is sitting on a table behind Buffy. When it comes on, it shows Buffy standing in front of a mirror. She runs a brush through her hair then her fingers before she looks up into the mirror. She startles at seeing her reflection, but doesn't scream then takes a step back. Hovering there above (or perhaps beneath) her reflection is a ghost of how she looked before Willow pulled her out of the grave, half decomposed. She turns to see the device on, still looking shaken and pale.]

So...curse day, right? Otherwise there's going to be some mirror breaking in my house and I seriously don't need any more years of bad luck. Or maybe if you break a creepy mirror it goes the other way. Seven years of good luck.

Fingers crossed.

I'm okay with this banning. It's a creeptastic saying anyway.

[She's drawing stick figures.] Angel was here during visitors weekend.

[Dawn's drawing only falters for a split second before she continues. She knows this is a very touchy subject for her sister so she tries to keep the joking around about to a minimum, at least initially. Instead she poses the most obvious question there is about an Angel visit.]

Broody Angel or psychopath Angel? [Yep, good or evil. That alone can say a lot about how the visit went.]

Sort of...happy Angel. [pause] Not that happy. Junior year Angel. Pre...you know...sex. Pre knowing that sex is bad.

[Dawn nods slowly and leans back to sit instead of kneel on the concrete. She looks over at her sister, trying to see if she could guess at how Buffy was feeling about an Angel visit. It seemed like there was no clue really except for a pause in her sisters words that she couldn't possibly interpret other than that it was a pause so she just came out and asked about it.]

So how was it? [She starts to draw a sun and clouds above Buffy's stick figures.]

[Buffy takes a while to answer.][Buffy is drawing a stick figure with a blonde ponytail staking someone.] I couldn't tell him about what happens to everything so...mostly I just pretended it never happened for a day.

[identity profile] the-dawnster.livejournal.com 2011-10-21 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
So the two of you were like -- together for a day like together together but before the sexcapades?

[Dawn's sun and clouds suddenly don't go with Buffy's picture of staking someone so she quits drawing, just watching Buffy add to her own drawing and letting her sister talk about mr. dark and broody being here.]

Re: [ action ]

[identity profile] whattingawhat.livejournal.com 2011-10-21 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sorry, Dawnie. Talking about Mr. Dark and Broody usually makes Buffy a bit dark and broody. Especially given recent events.]

Not...sort of? I mean he kissed me and we held hands but it was all pretty PG 13

It's kind of weird, huh? Knowing what you know and him not knowing. This is one of those times when it would pay off not to be knowledge-girl.

[She leans back, setting her palms on the concrete behind her and watching Buffy's drawing.] But then it's also better to know -- you know? Like I don't think I wouldn't want to know what I know.

Re: [ action ]

[identity profile] whattingawhat.livejournal.com 2011-10-21 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, knowing is better. I mean think of all the trouble we could have avoided if we'd known everything.

[Buffy abandons the chalk and dusts her hands off.] He wouldn't have remembered when he went back. He won't remember now. I just didn't want to make his visit suck.

[identity profile] the-dawnster.livejournal.com 2011-10-21 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
So if he were here in that way before all the sexcapades and the crazy, would you two try it together? Cause there could be Angel kissage and maybe that whole curse thing doesn't work in other dimensions, even pocket ones.

[Now her imagination is going wild, because once Dawn gets on a schpeal then it's over.]

Oh! Okay, or maybe there those curses that make people different like maybe he would be human for a day or you would me all fangy for a day only not in a killing kind of way. It could happen. Right?

Re: [ action ]

[identity profile] whattingawhat.livejournal.com 2011-10-21 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
No. [It's too quick for her to have thought about it.] I mean...I don't know. I'm not sixteen anymore and I'm the same person. If he were here for real, I'd have to do a lot more thinking and a lot more telling him how things go and it would be...complicated.

[She pauses a moment, brushing her hands down her pants.]

I'm pretty sure the loophole thing works no matter what dimension so we'd be...sixteen years old forever.

He's always seemed cool with you telling what to do before. I mean he gets the whole slayer thing -- which yes, it's complicated, but what's so new about that. You and Mr. Broodypants have always been complicated. It's old hat, or whatever.

[Give her a second.] Who wants to wear old hats? But hey, that's so not the point. The point is that the people who made that curse are far far away. And I'm not so sure it would work here and you and he might eventually make a deal with the deities to nip it in the bud anyway -- eventually.

It could happen. Like a sappy romance movie, it could happen.

I'm going to throw chalk at you. [No she's probably really not going to.]

We don't need any bud nipping. Angel's not here and besides the girls in the sappy romance movies never go stake vampires or behead monsters. Let's face it. Life with Buffy is much more dramedy-horror.

[identity profile] the-dawnster.livejournal.com 2011-10-22 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
That's because girls in sappy romance movies don't have the cool vibe like you do. And yes, I just said that you're cool. Write it down and take note cause it doesn't happen very often.

[No, usually Dawn doesn't tell Buffy how great she thinks she is. They're sisters. They argue and play around and are silly together. But compliments? Dawn figures Buffy, who is good at everything from her perspective, already knows she's good at everything and much with the cool. But she also knows that sometimes it's nice to hear it. Deep down, despite Dawn's bratty-ness and argumentative nature, she's always looked up to Buffy.]

Besides, some guys go for that whole dramedy-horror thing, especially when one half of that kind of relationship has good hygiene and flowy hair.

Taking note and dating. [Buffy smiles slightly at Dawn. She tucks her hair behind an ear.]

Well I do have the whole good Summers hair thing going on. Lucky for you, it's genetic.

[Even though her hair is in a ponytail she tilts her head back and pretends she's dramatically shaking it out like a shampoo commercial.]

Don't hate us because we're beautiful. [She looks back to her sister.] We could totally do one of those hair commercials.

[Buffy laughs a little at that.] We could. I vote for doing that when we get back. It'll finance new apartments and make a lot more money than coffee shop barista.
